LAKE QUINAULT LODGE
The historic Lake Quinault Lodge sits on a magnificent on the
lakeside. Visitors may enjoy the lobby with its large brick
fireplace and Indian woodcarvings, the excellent restaurant
(the Roosevelt Room), the gift shop, the wide grassy lawn
leading down to the lake, the lakeside trail, and the boat
rentals (canoes, kayaks, pedal boats).
The lodge was built in only 53 days in 1926, after the 1880s
Log Hotel had burned down two years before. Franklin D.
Roosevelt visited in 1937. Nine months later the Olympic
National Park was established. The restaurant was recently
renamed after FDR.
